This Armenian needlepoint rug tapestry was made in the 1920's and shows Mother Armenia sitting among ruins weeping for the lost country. In other iterations of this famous image, a young child is seen next to Mother Armenia. He represents the bright future and rebirth of the nation despite catastrophe.
