Raffi's Postcard

Hakob Melik Hakobian (1835 – 25 April 1888), better known by his pen name Raffi, was an Armenian author and leading figure in 19th-century Armenian literature. He is considered one of the most influential and popular modern Armenian authors. His works, especially his historical novels, played an important role in the development of modern Armenian nationalism.

The postcard below was designed by M. Minasian, and printed by the Raffi Jubilee Committee. The poem reads:

Will such a time ever come,

when a flag will flutter atop the summit of Mt. Ararat…

and Armenians who are in foreign parts from all sides

will move towards their beautiful homeland?
