Armenian Letter Opener from New York

As so many Armenians of his time, H. Michaelyan was a rug merchant. According to a surviving record from the Anderson Galleries,  Mr. Michaelyan was a well connected merchant with contacts from New York to Constantinople and had a keen interest in the rugs of the 16th and 17th centuries, of which he possessed excellent specimens. The letter opener below shows the name of his shop, the address and telephone number.
