"La cathédrale arménienne est au delà de la cathédrale protestante, entourée de l'évêché arménien, du séminaire et de l'hospice pour les pélerins. Cette vue représente l'intérieur de la Cathédrale des arméniens schismatiques; ceux-ci sont dans le quartier arménien qui s'étend de la porte de Jaffa à celle de Sion et occupe la partie de cette montage comprise dans l'enceinte  S-O [Sud-Ouest] de la ville. Les arméniens sont au nombre d'environ 500. Leur patriarche réside en Arménie; dans la Ville Sainte ils ont un évêque. La cathédrale dédiée à St-Jacques-le-Majeur est belle, spacieuse et propre. On y montre l'endroit précis où le Saint, le premier parmi les Apôtres, fut décapité par Hérode, 11 ans après la mort du Christ."

"The Armenian cathedral is beyond the Protestant cathedral, surrounded by the Armenian Bishop's palace, the seminary and the hospice for the pilgrims. This view represents the interior of the cathedral of the schismatic Armenians. The latter are in the Armenian quarter which extends from the Jaffa Gate to that of Zion and occupies the Southwestern part of this mountain within the City walls.  The Armenians number about 500. Their patriarch resides in Armenia. In the Holy City they have a bishop. The cathedral dedicated to [Apostle] Saint James the Great is beautiful, spacious and clean. The [cathedral shows the] exact place where the Saint, the first among apostles, was decapitated by Herod, 11 years after the death of Christ."
